It's still a bit early in the Lego companies recognition of the legacy of Motorhead, But, other folks who are skilled in the brick building crowd have come up with their own versions of sets an band members Here's a few of Them
As with all of the Bootleg gear, you just have to keep your eyes peeled on sights like ebay and etsy
At least until the people at Lego begin to realize that a legit set would be awesome!!!
You might say the "Motordamn" Project, (as it's now referred to) was Doomed from the start! (HA!). First of all, the idea of Motorhead and the Damned in the same studio, at the same time, might make one's hairs curl..and to no one's surprise, things didn't go exactly as planned....
As the rumor mill states, Phil had passed out form drinking, and Eddie and The Good Captain were at each others throats. The Captain being the main instigator got Eddie so pissed off, that he'd stormed off in a huff, after the Captain kept on holding up cue cards with the chords to "Ballroom Blitz" on them for Eddie (apparently, because he was playing it incorrectly. (Again, HA!)
Another version (according to Algy Ward, the Damned's bass player) has Eddie and Phil gone, trying to shag some girl on a pool table upstairs, so he and Lemmy (and others I guess?) recorded "Over the Top" and "Ballroom Blitz" in some form or another, "We also recorded the backing track to AntiPope there at the Workhouse Studio (Manfred Mann'a old gaff), bet he was impressed!"
But , As it were Lemmy did fill in with the Damned in 1978.
Here's what the warted one wrote in "White Line Fever"
'It was fun playing with those boys [The Damned]. So much fun, in fact, that Eddie, Phil and I wound up doing a recording session with them, too.We recorded a couple of songs - a version of the Sweet's 'Ballroom Blitz' and a Motörhead song 'Over the Top'. That was a joke. The Captain was watching cricket on TV and wouldn't come out of the TV room, for starters. And Eddie and Phil were fighting, as usual. Dave Vanian showed up late, and by then we were all drunk as shit. He took one look at us all, spun on his heel and walked straight back out. In the end, only me and the Damned bassist Algy Ward were still alive, so to speak, so we just went in and fucked around. I did a bass solo on 'Ballroom Blitz' and he did the vocals. That song wound up as a B-side to the Damned single, 'I Just Can't Be Happy Today', but we had a rough mix that was much better than the one that appeared on the record. We never did get around to putting vocals on 'Over The Top'. Oh yeah, and we broke the toilet bowl at the studio, too. I think the Captain kicked it in.'
